Donnie Wahlberg Turns 40! The New Kid On The Block Is All Grown Up, Still Has “The Right Stuff”

Combine over 1,000 screaming fans, 3 customized birthday cakes, a nightclub smack-dab in the middle of a casino and you get the 40th birthday party for actor/producer Donnie Wahlberg, not entirely gone from his days as 1/5 of the 90’s boy band New Kids on the Block (where there is no doubt how he garnered those 1,000 fans).

His sold out party culminated at Ultra 88, the luxe club at Mohegan Sun on Tuesday night. After a day of golfing with Dropkick Murphy’s frontman Ken Casey and his own entourage (not to be confused with his brothers Mark’s “Entourage”), Donnie hit up two pre-parties with fans that came out from all over the map. Finally, at Ultra 88, VIP’s had their own special booth on the dance floor to take in the extravaganza, including special performances by the birthday boy himself, MTV’s “Making His Band” celeb judge/ musician Rob Lewis and Jimmy Marsh, an up-and-coming rapper on Donnie’s label. Those in attendance included NYC super model Jaizen Homiller, Seth Greenberg and El Tiante Cigars CEO Dan Tiant.

Rumor has it his after-party didn’t end until 5 a.m. the next morning. Thus asking the question, does he still have the “Right Stuff?”

Happy birthday, Donnie

When Donnie Wahlberg says 40 is the new 20, he means it. The New Kid on the Block celebrated his 40th birthday on Tuesday by partying at Mohegan Sun’s Ultra 88 Nightclub with 1,000 fans, three cakes, and a list of VIP guests that included model Jaizen Homiller, nightlifer Seth Greenberg, Boston-bred Star magazine reporter Melissa Cronin, P. Diddy’s “Making His Band’’ judge Rob Lewis, Wahlberg’s protege Jimmy Marsh, and El Tiante Cigars chief executive Dan Tiant. Highlights of the night included a performance by Wahlberg, who dropped his pants for the crowd before taking the mike. So much for being a grown-up. After the club closed, Wahlberg had an after-party in his room until about 5 a.m. Earlier in the day, Wahlberg golfed with friends - including Dropkick Murphys frontman Ken Casey. He also received a box of birthday cigars from Luis Tiant, who wrote a note to Donnie that said, “From one Boston icon to another.’’ Donnie hosts yet another birthday celebration tonight at Rumor.

Donnie Wahlberg to celebrate twice

In other Wahlberg news, Mark’s brother Donnie has given us the early word that he’ll probably host a second birthday party for himself later this week to appease fans who couldn’t get tickets to tomorrow’s sold-out shindig in his honor at Mohegan Sun’s Ultra 88 Nightclub. Tickets to Donnie’s 40th birthday party sold out in 20 minutes. Donnie said fans should check his Twitter page for details about the second soiree. “It’s going to be a great night,’’ he said of tomorrow’s birthday extravaganza. “I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate.’’ Wahlberg admitted that it’s easier to deal with New Kids fans now that they’ve matured. “They’re not going to sit in front of my house - and they don’t need to.’’ Wahlberg will be spending more time in Boston now that he’s joined the cast of “The Zookeeper,’’ which has been filming at the Franklin Park Zoo. He told us he’ll play a zookeeper who doesn’t like animals. “He’s the anti-Dr. Doolittle,’’ Wahlberg said, laughing. Even though Mark’s local movie, “The Fighter,’’ has had its wrap party, Donnie says he and his brother will have some time together in Boston. “Mark and I have a harder time seeing each other because of our schedules,’’ Donnie admitted. “Hopefully, we can play some golf at Franklin Park.’’
