Backstreet Boys y New Kids on the Block ¿juntos?

New Kids on the Block.

Live Music: New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys Burn Up the AMAs

By Brooke Wylie, Contributing Editor
brooke@livemusicguide.com
In a world of mashups, two of the biggest boy bands ever have taken things beyond mashing songs together; the Backsteet Boys and the New Kids on the Block have mashed themselves together.

The former teen dreams joined forces on stage at the American Music Awards, officially becoming NKOTBSB, just ahead of their joint tour next summer.  On the heels of their Sunday night performance, the bands added 18 dates to the upcoming tour and released a joint statement:
“We can’t thank our fans enough for their continued support. The love that everyone has shown to us and to this project is incredible. We can feel the excitement and we won’t let the fans down. And with our new and elaborate stage design there won’t be one bad seat in the house.  We are truly blessed and are so appreciative to have you all along with us for the ride,” the bands said in the statement.”

If Sunday night’s performance was any indication of what’s to come, long time fans of either band will not be disappointed.  The Kids and the Boys still have some moves.   Joey McIntyre, AJ McLean, Jordan Knight, Howie Dorough, Jonathan Knight, Donnie Wahlberg, Brian Littrell, Danny Wood and Nick Carter make up the nine-headed monster that got the place rocking.
Throughout the AMA crowd, people could be seen singing and dancing—Jennifer Love Hewitt among them—to a medley of some of the biggest hits from both bands.  From the New Kids catalogue came “Step by Step” and “You Got It (The Right Stuff),“ while the Boys contributed “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back),” “Larger Than Life” and “I Want It That Way.”
Tickets for the previously announced dates are on sale now, while tickets to the newly added show will not be on sale until Dec. 11.  Check out the official NKOTBSB  website, or the band’s respective websites (www.backstreetboys.com, www.nkotb.com) for even more information.

New Kids on the Block + Backstreet Boys = NKOTBSB

Oh no, they didn't? Yes they did! New Kids on the Block have teamed up with the Backstreet Boys to create uber boy band NKOTBSB…
What do you do when your band hasn't had a hit single for over a decade? Collaborate with another boy band that also hasn't had a hit single for over a decade, it's the logical thing to do.
For all those Backstreet Boys and New Kids on the Block fans all your dreams have come true, the bands are making a comeback, and not just any comeback, we can't wait to hear what this collaboration has to offer after their AMA's performance!
NKOTBSB made their first TV appearance at the American Music Awards on Sunday night where they performed a mash up of both bands past hits including, 'Everybody (Backstreet's Back)','I Want It That Way', 'Step by Step', 'You Got It (The Right Stuff)' and 'Larger Than Life'.
The most impressive of the entire performance was the dance moves. The group of nine ranges in age from 30 to 41 but onstage they could have passed for 21!
The newly formed band will go on tour around the U.S. next June for more details check out the official NKOTBSB site.
The Backstreet Boys consists of A. J. McLean, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell, and Nick Carter. Kevin Richardson was a part of the original band but left in 2006 to pursue other interests which left the four to join with New Kids on the Block.
The New Kids on the Block consists of Jordan and Jonathan Knight, Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg, and Danny Wood. The group broke up in 1995 and then reunited in 2008.
Reportedly the bands have sold more than 200 million albums and have a wide range of hits.

11/23/2010 - thankful for you

Here come the holidays...wow. I guess I can't say "where has the time gone?", because it has been a full year. Many many things have happened along the way. I feel though that I have grown a lot since the beginning of the year. Take for instance the 6 dates I did in January. I look back and it that feels like '99, which is nice in a way because that means I must have felt young, with something to prove. That little mini tour was alot- a lot of of fun, but a lot. I was fueled by my drive for independence after being with the "Kids" for the previous 2 years. I had something to say apart from what we were doing. I am thoroughly happy with what came out of that "drive". My CD Here We Go Again is something I love and love to catch up on from time to time. I hope you guys are still enjoying it. But after that independent streak ran its course, I was reinvigorated to get back with the guys and create another "moment". The cruise '10 and the CasiNO Tour are now part of New Kids lore. Another amazing chapter. Since then I have been working on a few things that I hope will see the light of day soon. I don't want to rush it though. Something I am working on- hurry and indecision. Staying centered and really listening to what works for me and what will bring me the most peace. Easier said than done, but "putting it out there."
Mixed in there is the pleasant surprise of me and Eman performing together again, which is a wild ride, but something we both take very seriously and of which we get so much. There is more to come from One Too Many for sure. Maybe sooner than we think.
And then we have the juggernaut that is NKOTBSB. Above all it is fun. I don't think any of us thought we, all 9 of us, would be enjoying it this much. But why shouldn't we. We are blessed. The AMA's were special. I felt very connected to you, our fans, in a way that felt different. As I mentioned in a tweet, its gotta feel good to see your boys and "Boys" up there after all these years of supporting us and have us received the way we were. The performance was fun. And objectively speaking, kind of spectacular- a sneak peak for sure. But now we have to top it. Now we have to back it up. I believe we will. We are just a bunch of guys singing songs and dancing, so I don't mean to sound more important than it is, but music, and art and dance and laughter are so very important in life and we are so very honored to play a role in that essential part of your life. This Thanksgiving I am once again thankful for you -jm

Boy-bands-turned-man-bands New Kids on the Block (NKOTB) and the Backstreet Boys announced Monday on their websites that 18 dates have been added to their summer 2011 co-headlining tour.
The statement promised the tour would be accompanied by an elaborate stage design that will ensure “there won't be one bad seat in the house.”
NKOTB -- Donnie Wahlberg, Danny Wood, Joey McIntyre, Jonathan Knight and Jordan Knight -- gained fame in the late 1980s with hits like “You Got It (The Right Stuff),” helping to lay the groundwork for the 1990s boy band movement that catapulted groups like the Backstreet Boys and ‘N Sync to success.
NKOTB and the Backstreet Boys first performed together in June at a NKOTB concert at New York’s Radio City Music Hall.
Tickets for the first set of tour dates are on sale now, with tickets for the just-announced dates going on sale on Dec. 11. The complete tour dates are listed on both acts’ official websites.

NKOTBSB Mashed-Up And Rocked Out At The AMAs — And We LOVED It!

The tour announcement got us fan girls squealing with delight, and the AMA performance was just a little preview of what’s to come!

No wonder they saved NKOTBSB for last at the AMAs. The crowd needed all that time to prepare for the epic 90s boyband madness that was about to come at their faces! Everyone was anxious to see how Backstreet Boys and New Kids on the Block would make their new group work. So, how did they do?
Trick question. Never question NKOTB and BSB – especially if they were the soundtrack to your childhood/teenage years. The goosebumps started as soon as “Hangin’ Tough” and “Everybody” started floating out of the speakers…and it was a wild ride down Memory Lane from there. In fact, the opening mashed up lyrics pretty much sums up our feelings of the whole performance:
Listen up everybody if you wanna take a chance/oh my God, we’re back again
O-M-G is right. It was clear from the constant shots of the audience mouthing along to the hits and the steady screaming as the group launched into song after song (“I Want it that Way!” “Right Stuff!” “Larger Than Life!”) that fans are more than ready for NKOTBSB.
Also, if you think you were the only ones geeking out, you should know that reporters backstage went into full fan girl mode when they saw the super groups appear on the monitors.
Seeing the trademark dance moves and hearing those songs that we used to blast in our cars was enough for us to forgive some shaky vocals at times from the boys. If this performance doesn’t get you pumped to see them on tour, then you were probably not a fan of either to begin with.
Watch the performance again (or for the first time) and try not to chant along at the end to “all you people can’t you see, can’t you see…N-K-O-T-B-S-B!”

New Kids On The Block, Backstreet Boys Talk Upcoming Tour At AMAs

NKOTB's Jordan Knight tells MTV News that their American Music Awards

By Mawuse Ziegbe

Superstar boy bands New Kids on the Block and the Backstreet Boys, who each spent a segment of the '90s causing teen-girl hysteria with their squeaky-clean party jams and baby-faced good looks, are now joining forces for a U.S. tour in June.

On Sunday night (November 21), the country got a taste of what an NKOTBSB show will look like when the nine-member collective closed the 2010 American Music Awards.
Before hitting the AMA stage, the fellas told MTV News that the collaborative awards-show production mirrors the staging of their upcoming trek.
"It's gonna be exactly what they see on the tour," NKOTB's Jordan Knight said of the show, in which the guys took turns belting pop smashes by both groups. "I think a lot of people, when they hear New Kids are going on tour with the Backstreet Boys, they think we're gonna, like, [face] off; we're gonna be some kind of rivalry. But that's not the case. They're gonna see tonight onstage that it's a collaboration, that we get along ... and you'll see it on our performance."
The amiable rapport among the crew is definitely evident when the guys talk about each band's contribution to pop music. Members of NKOTB and BSB maintain that the groups have a symbiotic relationship: The New Kids paved the way, and the Boys kept the boy-band phenomenon alive.
"In many ways, they contemporize us. They brought us to the forefront," NKOTB's Joey McIntyre explained. "When the Backstreet Boys came out, at first you're like, 'OK, these guys are kinda doing their thing.' To get the credit that somehow we started [the boy-band trend] - which we didn't, 'cause there's New Edition and the Jackson 5 and this tradition's being going on forever - they kinda shed a light on what we did too, and that's nice."
Nick Carter added that the "Larger Than Life" crooners were amped to hit the road with their '90s teen-idol forefathers.
"We appreciate and respect everything that these guys have done for the music industry, and now it's just great to be together," he said. "I think that's what's awesome."
NKOTB's resident bad boy Danny Wahlberg compared the team-up to a successful partnership straight out of Hollywood.
"It's Rocky and Apollo taking out Mr. T," he quipped, as the fellas laughed.

Backstreet Boys and NKOTB team up for new single

Backstreet’s back alright, and so are the New Kids on the Block. All grown up (but forever referred to as boy bands), they talked to CNN on the red carpet at the American Music Awards Sunday.
BSB’s Howie Dorough let a little secret slip in front of our cameras: The two bands have already recorded a new single together. TMI? Maybe. Once Dorough let that cat out of the bag, NKOTB's Joey McIntyre said, "You gave her the scoop, Howie!"
The boy bands made for one of the biggest onstage highlights at the awards show with a medley of hits like "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)," "Hangin' Tough," "I Want It That Way" and "Step By Step." (Update 1:55 p.m. Fans are clearly amped for this union, as the two groups have added 18 shows to their upcoming co-headlined summer tour, with an additional night in both Chicago and Toronto. For more information, head to NKOTBSB.com.)

Also on the red carpet was a pregnant Pink, who said, “Everything I eat stays down.” She told CNN that her AMA number would also be her baby’s first live performance.
Usher, who said he became emotional watching protégé Justin Bieber win a whopping four awards, had nothing but praise for the singing boy wonder.  "It seems like he's having fun," Usher said. "Understanding the hard work that goes into it is probably the hardest part of it and he's accepted that."
And we’d be remiss if we didn’t spotlight AMA fashion, the best of which can be summed up in two words: LEGO hat.

Backstreet Boys And New Kids On The Block Close The AMAs

The boy bands bring their old favorites to the American Music Awards.

By Jocelyn Vena (@jocelyn1212)

They might have been the only nine guys who could close out a show as hectic as the American Music Awards. In a show filled with pop newcomers like Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber, New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys graced the stage to show they still had the right stuff.

Like any good boy-band performance, there were pyrotechnics and sweet dance moves. The pop supergroup started with a mash-up of the BSB hit "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)" and the NKOTB classic "Hangin' Tough." Soon the guys slowed it down for Backstreet's "I Want It That Way" and then kicked it old school for the New Kids' "Step by Step."
All nine guys took a dance break before they segued into "The Right Stuff," complete with the New Kids' infamous shuffle dance from the video. The spotlight once again fell on a BSB tune before they capped it off with "Larger Than Life," complete with an "NKOTBSB" chant. Confetti fell from the sky as the guys closed out the show.
Earlier in the night, all nine guys hit the AMA red carpet together. In an interview earlier this month, they teased that there was a chance they might record a track together.
"It's tough getting these guys in the studio. These young cats," New Kid Joey McIntyre explained about his tourmates, the Backstreet Boys. "Well, it's honestly, it is tough to get everybody together. Yes, we have lots of great intentions.

Backstreet Boys y New Kids on the Block se reúnen para gira por EE.UU.

Actualizado 16-Nov-2010

Backstreet Boys y New Kids on the Block preparan una gira en conjunto por Estados Unidos y Canadá.
