Joey McIntyre twitterview with Wonderwall MSN

By Rebecca Silverstein

Most lounge singers aspire to sell out stadiums around the world, but Joey McIntyre is working in reverse. The New Kids on the Block stud, who's been in the spotlight since he was 13, will be performing intimate shows at the Lounge at the Palms Las Vegas every Saturday night in February with pal Emanuel Kiriakou. But Joey isn't
straying too far from the packed arenas; this summer he'll be back with NKOTB as they team up with the Backstreet Boys for the much-anticipated NKOTBSB tour. Read on for details on all things Joey, and when you're done, make sure you're following @WonderwallMSN and @JoeyMcIntyre on Twitter.

@WonderwallMSN: Ready for our #twitterview? :)
@JoeyMcIntyre: ok- How do I answer these questions? I hate the new Twitter (thats not really new anymore) Cant just see my followers- Quick to the iPhone!

@WonderwallMSN: Haha, just hit reply and you'll be golden! So what made you decide to do shows every Saturday at @PalmsLasVegas this February?
@JoeyMcIntyre: Hey! We wanted to start kind of semi- "residence gig"- Nothing like having a "home" in Vegas at the Palms

@WonderwallMSN: Fun! Here's a fan Q from @kdubluvsjmac: will those of us who can't make the show be able to get a dvd or cd of it?
@JoeyMcIntyre: We are gonna be recording the shows and I want to bring cameras in too!!! DVD baby! we'll see if we can do it :)

@WonderwallMSN: @JoesTwistdDream asks: will the Vegas experience continue after the tour is over?
@JoeyMcIntyre: I hope so. This Vegas show is gonna be a blast, but it's also a serious dream for me and @emanuelkiriakou

@WonderwallMSN: @RocksicleLover asks: Where are you most likely headed after your Vegas shows? Slots? Poker? Bar? Bed?
@JoeyMcIntyre: Most likely headed to the bar for a nite cap and then off to bed. Gotta pace myself with this Vegas gig

@WonderwallMSN: Especially since you have the @NKOTBSB tour this summer! How are you preparing for it?
@JoeyMcIntyre: We are just now talking about schedule. Gonna be a unique prep for this tour- a lotta songs to put together!

@WonderwallMSN: Are you more excited to do the old #NKOTB favorites or showcase some new material on the tour?
@JoeyMcIntyre: I love singing old and new stuff. It's all about connecting to the material- regardless. Finding the connection.

@JoeyMcIntyre: K- I'm done...gotta head over to @emanuelkiriakou studio to rehearse- cant just talk about the show. Gotta make it happen!! Luv ya. talk soon
@WonderwallMSN: Bye Joey! Thanks for chatting! Good luck with the shows and the tour!

a message from Jon

This blog was post in the NKOTB official forum:

To all my fans who have expressed concern:
Jan 27, 2011 By: Jonathan Knight

I have never been outed by anyone but myself! I did so almost twenty years ago.
I never knew that I would have to do it all over again publicly just because I
reunited with NKOTB! I have lived my life very openly and have never hidden the
fact that I am gay! Apparently the pre requisite to being a gay public figure is
to appear on the cover of a magazine with the caption "I am gay". I apologize
for not doing so if this is what was expected! My belief is that you live your
life by example, and not by a caption on a magazine! If there ever has been any
confusion about my sexuality, then you are someone that doesn't even know me!
I love living my life being open and honest, but at this time I choose not to
discuss my private life any further! My fellow band members don't discuss their
private lives with their loved ones and I don't feel that just because I am gay,
I should have to discuss mine!
Jonathan

New Kids and Backstreet Boys to rock Fenway

Brian Littrell, Jonathan Knight,...
New Kid on the Block Joey McIntyre...

New Kid on the Block Donnie Wahlberg knew he was overwhelmed and overcome — and a little emotional. “What’s the word?” he asked bandmate Joey McIntyre.
“Farklempt,” said Joe.
“That’s it,” said Donnie. “Farklempt.”
Which sums it up for the five guys from Boston, who will get to live out all their fanboy fantasies when they take the stage at Fenway Park [map] on June 6 with the Backstreet Boys. Donnie, Joey, Jordan and Jonathan Knight and Danny Wood along with BSB Howie Dorough and Brian Littrell were at the baseball shrine yesterday to make it official: NKOTBSB will be the 11th summer show at Fenway since concerts came back to the ballyard in 2003.
Red Sox [team stats] COO Sam Kennedy, introducing the former boy banders, said the ball club was “proud to add nine new players to the lineup” — a quip McIntyre took straight to heart!
“During the dark ages of the Evil Empire before 2004, it was 2003 and I had just gotten married,” Joey recalled. “After that Game 7 in New York, I was in the fetal position like all of Red Sox Nation, moaning and my wife said to me ‘You’re not on the team! You’re not a Red Sox!’ Well, honey, I’m a Boston Red Sox now!”
Dorough and Littrell, who didn’t have the hometown thing going for them, were also a bit farklempt at the prospect of playing in the historic park.
“I played baseball for 13 years as a child and I think every little boy in America on a Little League field somewhere dreams to play at this park,” Littrell said. “Little did we know we’d be singing our way here but we made it, Mom, we made it!”
BTW, BSB Nick Carter was a no-show at yesterday’s dog-and-pony show. Ditto for A.J. McLean who is completing his third stint in rehab.
“He’s good, he’s good,” Littrell said. “Just talked to him last night ... he’s got one more week, he’s been there three weeks. He’s doing very, very well. Sounded very excited ... he’s working on bettering himself so he can better all of us sitting up here.”
The concert announcement drew a Larger Than Life crowd to Fenway yesterday and do we even have to tell you that it was mostly female?
“We’ve never been able to assemble all the women from the front office like this before,” Kennedy joked at the start of the press conference.
And the man-banders showed their fans they’ve got The Right Stuff for the summer concert, singing a few bars of “Sweet Caroline” for the crowd – which they will, of course, be performing on June 6.
As for their new handle, NKOTBSB, Wahlberg said it was the result of some “real creativity.”
“NKOTB was sort of our nickname and BSB was sort of theirs. And here’s the clever part – we decided to share one B!”

NKOTBSB Fenway Press!

Spotted: NKOTBSB Meet The Green Monster In Boston

Every day a multitude of stars wander through the halls of MTV News to talk about their latest projects and goof around with our intrepid correspondents. But sometimes we catch stars elsewhere, and that's why we put together Spotted!, a daily compendium of stars in the wild.
Excitement continues to grow for the upcoming tour that will bring together New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys (who have cleverly dubbed their combined unit NKOTBSB). The trek, which kicks off on June 2 and is currently booked through the end of July, will showcase two of the biggest boy bands in the history of pop music, featuring individual sets as well as plenty of collaborations between the two factions. On Wednesday (January 26), seven members of the tour (Brian Littrell, Jonathan Knight, Howie Dorough, Donnie Wahlberg, Jordan Knight, Joey McIntyre and Danny Wood) gathered in Boston to announce a huge event: A show at Fenway Park, the venerable home of the Boston Red Sox, on June 11. The press conference ended with a trip to the outfield to hang out at the famous Green Monster. The show will be especially meaningful for the New Kids, who all grew up in the Boston area. Ticket pre-sales are going on now, and they'll be available to the general public on February 5.

BOSTON (CBS) -Guess who will be leading off at Fenway Park this summer?
New Kids On The Block will be part of a double bill at Fenway in June.
They’ll be performing with the Backstreet Boys.
Donnie Wahlberg confirmed it on CBS’s “Early Show” Wednesday morning.
He was in Boston for the official announcement Wednesday afternoon.
According to Donnie Wahlberg’s Twitter account, the concert will be June 11.
One of Wahlberg’s updates was, “If there was one show ever… One show… That any member of NKOTB would crawl across the country on all fours to play… Its FENWAY!”
“This is a tremendous honor for us. As a group of South Boston kids we never thought we would get an opportunity like this. Our dreams are coming true,” Wahlberg said at the news conference announcing the concert. “And one of the best parts is that we get to share this moment with our friends the Backstreet Boys.”
Tickets for the show will go on sale to the public on February 5 at 10 a.m. at etix.com and LiveNation.com or by calling 800-514-3849. There will be presale tickets available to members of NKOTB’s fan club and American Express card holders on Thursday and Friday of this week, respectively.
The NKOTBSB concert tour had previously been scheduled to play at Nassau Coliseum on June 11, but because of this newly announced concert the one on Long Island has been rescheduled to July 31.
The tour starts June 2 at Mohegan Sun Arena. The groups are scheduled to play a sold out show at TD Garden on June 4. The tour also added shows in the New York area; Chicago; Grand Rapids, MI; Buffalo, NY; Baltimore; and several stops in Canada.
The two groups combined have sold more than 200-million albums.

New Kids On The Block to play Fenway Park

After weeks of speculation, Boston’s New Kids On The Block have officially announced they will play a homecoming show at Fenway Park this summer with tourmates and fellow boy band favorites the Backstreet Boys. The concert will take place on Saturday, June 11, one week after the two groups will perform a sold our show at the TD Garden. The announcement was made during a press conference this afternoon at Fenway Park.
Tickets for the show will go on sale Saturday, February 5 at 10 a.m. through etix.com. No tickets will be made available at the Fenway Park box office.
“This is a tremendous honor for us,” proclaimed New Kids’ Donnie Wahlberg in a press release. “As a group of South Boston kids we never thought we would get an opportunity like this. Our dreams are coming true. And one of the best parts is that we get to share this moment with our friends the Backstreet Boys.”
“We are all so grateful and excited to have this opportunity,” added the members of Backstreet Boys. “It’s a once in a lifetime moment. And to get to experience this with our Boston friends NKOTB puts it on a whole other level.”
In order to play the Fenway show, the two groups have had to re-route their “NKOTBSB”. The groups had been scheduled to perform at the Nassau Memorial Coliseum on Long Island on June 11 to July 31.
Fenway Park began hosting concerts in 2003, when Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band headlined the historic ballpark. It was not until last summer when Aerosmith and the J. Geils Bands teamed up for a co-headliner that the home of the Red Sox was headlined by hometown bands. Other artists to perform at Fenway Park over the past decade include Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band, The Rolling Stones, Dave Matthews Band, The Police, Neil Diamond, Phish and Paul McCartnery.
The inspiration for the co-headlining tour came last year when the Backstreet Boys joined the New Kids On The Block at their show in New York City. New Kids on the Block reunited in 2008 for a tour and the release of their first studio album in fourteen years, The Block. Backstreet Boys most recent release was 2009′s This Is Us, their second album without founding member Kevin Richardson.

BOSTON, MA – After weeks of speculation, New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys joined the legendary Green Monster today at historic Fenway Park to announce a special once in a lifetime performance at the legendary Boston ballpark on Saturday, June 11th.  The superstar groups join the exclusive ranks of musical greats Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Diamond, Jimmy Buffett, Dave Matthews Band, Phish and Aerosmith who have all performed on the field of the world famous ballpark.  Fenway tickets go on sale to the public on Saturday, February 5th at 10am EST at etix.com and LiveNation.com or by calling 800-514-3849 TICKETS WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE AT THE FENWAY PARK TICKET OFFICE.  Block Nation presale will begin on Thursday, January 27th at 10am PST. AMEX presale will begin on Friday, January 28th at 10am EST.
“This is a tremendous honor for us.  As a group of Boston kids we never thought we would get an opportunity like this.  Our dreams are coming true,” said New Kids’ Donnie Wahlberg.  “And one of the best parts is that we get to share this moment with our friends the Backstreet Boys.”

“We are all so grateful and excited to have this opportunity.  It’s a once in a lifetime moment.  And to get to experience this with our Boston friends NKOTB puts it on a whole other level.” Added the members of Backstreet Boys.

In order to accommodate this prestigious once in a lifetime event, NKOTBSB have moved their Nassau Coliseum show, originally scheduled for Saturday, June 11th to Sunday, July 31st.  All June 11th tickets will be honored at the July 31st show or full refunds will be available at the point of purchase if necessary.

The Fenway announcement is part of the highly anticipated NKOTBSB tour, produced by Live Nation, set to begin on June 2nd with sold out shows opening night at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville and Boston’s own TD Garden, as well as, sold out shows in Philadelphia, Toronto, New York, New Jersey, Chicago and Los Angeles.  With the continued and insatiable fan demand, the unstoppable phenomenon that is the NKOTBSB will add a slew of new dates to their tour including a third New York area show, a third Chicago area show and additional stops in Grand Rapids, MI; Buffalo, NY; Baltimore, MD; Ottawa, ON; Montreal, QC; Hamilton and London, ON.  Further information concerning these shows, including dates and venues, to be announced shortly.

The announcement of the Fenway Park show and the upcoming announcement of even more new tour dates will bring the historic NKOTBSB tour to over 50 stops, giving fans across North America more chances to catch their favorite groups on one stage.  Further ticket and tour information for all dates is available at NKOTBSB.com, etix.com and LiveNation.com.

"We are very pleased that we are able to bring together New Kids On The Block, The Backstreet Boys and their New England fans at Fenway Park. This will be an unforgettable night for us all,” said Dave Marsden, Vice President of Booking for Live Nation New England.

NKOTBSB’s Fenway Park announcement comes just after their epic performance on “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2011.” NKOTBSB sent thousands of screaming and dancing fans into a fan frenzy.  With throngs of fans in the middle of Times Square singing along to their smash hit singles, and millions more tuning in from home, New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys once again reaffirmed their place in pop culture proving why their ticket is the hottest ticket of the summer.

NKOTBSB first shocked and delighted fans when they took the stage together for a medley at the sold out NKOTB Radio City Music Hall show.  The two groups wowed audiences again in their first joint televised performance at the American Music Awards this past November.  The performers had the audience on their feet when they unleashed hit after hit including Backstreet’s “I Want It That Way” and NKOTB’s “Hangin’ Tough,” sending the crowd into rip-roaring applause.

With over 200 million albums sold between both bands, and smash hit after smash hit, these two pop sensations have dominated the music scene for over three decades. Aiming to please, these guys are giving concert goers and diehard fans everywhere the ultimate “night out” experience.

New Kids on the Block to play at Fenway Park

BOSTON (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - It looks like they have “the right stuff” for Fenway Park.  The New Kids on the Block will perform at the home of the Red Sox.
The reunited Boston boy band's tour with the Backstreet Boys is reportedly making a stop at Fenway in June.
The group already has a sold-out show set for the Garden just a week earlier, but they really wanted to hold a concert at Fenway.
They pitched the potential gig to the Sox and an official announcement is expected today.

New Kids On The Block - Mcintyre's Advice For Bieber

New Kids On The Block and the Backstreet Boys25 January 2011 16:08
NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK star JOEY MCINTYRE has warned JUSTIN BIEBER about the pitfalls of finding fame at a young age, insisting he endured plenty of "dark days" after his boyband heyday.
The singer shot to fame when he was a teenager as the youngest member of the pop group, and admits he was in for a shock when their popularity waned.
Now he's urging 16-year-old Bieber to surround himself with loved ones to support him through his "ups and downs".
MCIntyre tells Entertainment Tonight, "I wasn't perfect. We weren't perfect. We certainly made mistakes and there were dark days. You're the biggest thing in the world (but) you gotta come down. What goes up comes down, for whatever reason.
"You gotta learn how to hang in there and know that there's so much more to life than just singing pop tunes and dancing around on stage. And that takes a while - everybody's got their own path and their own time.
"You have to go with the flow and learn some things the hard way. Hopefully kids like Justin - there's a lot of young artists out there - hopefully they've got good family around them and they're able to take the ups and downs."

New Kids bringing the right stuff to Fenway

BIG HITTERS: Boston’s own New...
BIG HITTERS: Boston’s own New Kids on the Block, above, will play at Fenway Park on June 11.
Do New Kids on the Block have the right stuff for Fenway Park ?
Looks like it. The reunited Boston boy band is expected to give a concert at the hallowed home of the Red Sox  on June 11, with tour mates the Backstreet Boys, according to a source close to the deal. The official announcement from concert promoter Live Nation is planned for a press conference at Fenway on Wednesday.
“Long before they were famous, the New Kids were huge Sox fans and used to come and hang out at the ballpark quite often,” the source told the Herald. “When they made it big they still came to the park. It’s a huge thrill for them to play Fenway.”
Despite already having a sold-out show set for TD Garden just a week earlier on June 4, the New Kids in December pitched the Sox on a potential gig. The Red Sox then applied for show permits for June 11 and 12.
How eager are the New Kids to play Fenway? Eager enough to deal with the hassle and expense of changing an already tight tour schedule.
Currently the Fab Five — Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg, Danny Wood and brothers Jordan and Jonathan Knight — are slated to play Nassau Memorial Coliseum on Long Island on June 11. They will have to reschedule that date in order to join the short list of musical acts to have the honor of playing Fenway. There’s even an option to add a Sunday date if Saturday’s sells out — although that would mean canceling another already scheduled show at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, NJ.
Sox owner John Henry and company began booking acts into the 98-year-old park in 2003 with Bruce Springsteen and have since welcomed Jimmy Buffett, the Rolling Stones, Dave Matthews Band, the Police, Neil Diamond, Phish and Paul McCartney. But they didn’t tap local legends until last summer’s Aerosmith/J. Geils Band double play. That Boston-centric bill proved a smash and sold out in minutes.
But can the “Hangin’ Tough” kids draw like the “Toys in the Attic” rockers?
The answer: probably.
The New Kids reunion has been huge. In 2008, they sold out the TD Garden. A year later, they packed the Comcast Center in Mansfield.
Now the New Kids have doubled the fan fun by teaming with the Backstreet Boys for a boy band bonanza dubbed NKOTBSB. The joint tour is scheduled to play 41 shows this summer. The two acts have sold a combined total of more than 200 million albums (compared to Aerosmith’s 150 million).

NKOTB's Joey McIntyre Gives Update on BSB A.J. McLean in Rehab

New Kids on the Block singer Joey McIntyre has been in the music business for over 24 years and has seen some friends battle with addiction in the limelight, including Backstreet Boy A.J. McLean who recently made the decision to enter rehab.
"A.J. is a sweet kid, good kid and extremely talented, so we're all there for him," said Joey. AJ admitted himself earlier this month before heading on the huge NKOTB/BSB tour.
Young star Aaron Carter is reportedly seeking professional help as well to deal with some unknown "emotional and spiritual issues," and Joey commended Aaron for making that step.
"To me it's usually a good thing when someone can take some time and retreat from it all and, you know, just get a little bit more centered," Joey said, encouragingly.
Justin Bieber has managed to stay clean in his career thus far and Joey gave some advice to the star for staying on the right track.
"Hopefully, kids like Justin… there's a lot of young artists out there and hopefully they got good family around them and they just, you know, be able to take the ups and downs," Joey said.
On Monday, Joey filmed a TV spot for Hear the World Foundation, which raises awareness about hearing loss, how to recognize it and steps that can be taken to prevent its occurrence.
This organization's cause personally affects Joey since his one-year-old son Rhys was diagnosed with severe hearing loss, but the singer says that "being aided by the hearing aids, he is hearing as a normal 13-month-old."

Tiffany and NKOTB's Jonathan Knight 'Could've Been' something, but his gay got in the way

Andy Cohen had Tiffany and fellow 80s pop star Debbie Gibson on Thursday's  (Jan. 20) episode of "Watch What Happens: Live." And, as usual, he asked the questions we all want to know.

Our "Mazel of the Week" goes to Andy for asking Tiffany if she ever hooked up with one of the members of New Kids On The Block when they opened for her tour back in 1988. We're a bit surprised that she dated Jonathan Knight. Instantly we thought, "Isn't he gay?"

"He turned gay later," Tiffany explains. "I didn't do it, but he's fabulous, though. I had issues with that. I was thinking that I did. But, no."

We're pretty sure he was gay at the time, but apparently, it took Tiffany a bit to figure it out.

"Now looking back while we were dating," she says. "He was so much fun. We used to do facials together. He was so easy to talk to."

NKOTBSB tour gains momentum with more concerts, fan club ticket sell-outs

New Kids on the Block & Backstreet Boys - NKOTBSB Tour

By Allison Reitz
Though the concept may have its doubters, the joint tour of boy band icons New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys has found its audience. After audiences showed considerable interest in tickets for 24 previously announced concert dates, the bands' itinerary has been expanded to 41 dates.
The NKOTBSB Tour, a combination of the groups' respective abbreviated monikers, retains its original June 2 launch date at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT. But now the vocal groups won't reach the end of the road until a July 30 closer at Hersheypark Stadium in Hershey, PA.
Other newer dates on the Kids and Boys' calendar include July 9-10 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, BC; July 15 at Target Center in Minneapolis, MN; July 22 at Amway Center in Orlando, FL; and July 29 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ.
All of the currently announced shows have opened ticket sales to the general public as of the January 15 weekend; it is unclear whether additional dates may be added in the future. Though prices vary depending on venue, most ticket face values for the tour (new dates and old) fall within a $30 to $90 pre-fee range.

"We can't thank our fans enough for their continued support," the groups have said previously in a joint statement. "The love that everyone has shown to us and to this project is incredible. We can feel the excitement and we won’t let the fans down."
The NKOTBSB crew also alluded to an "elaborate stage design" and promised fans that "there won't be one bad seat in the house. We are truly blessed and are so appreciative to have you all along with us for the ride."
The ride started for the singers started with an initial five-date tour announcement in early November. The pairing gained momentum later in the month when NKOTBSB performed at the American Music Awards, followed closely by the unveiling of 19 more concert dates.
Though no overall sell-outs have occurred on the primary market, NKOTBSB tickets have done well with groups' most dedicated fans. A recent announcement on the NKOTBSB official Web site noted Fan Club sell-outs in Orlando, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Greensboro and Minneapolis.
But NKOTBSB may have something up its sleeve. The list of fan club sell-outs was accompanied with a teaser of "big news coming soon!" It remains to be seen whether that upcoming "news" includes more domestic tour dates, an international leg of performances, or something else entirely.
For now, though, the only news from the groups has been regarding A.J. McLean's return to rehab. The BSB member has struggled with sobriety in the past and said in a statement last week, "With 2011 being a busy year for Backstreet, I want to be healthy and at my best." Despite the news, published reports have the tour on-track for its early June start.

Battle of the holiday cards: Kiriakou VS McIntyre

Original link
I shot some images before the holidays that I was just dying to share here but I didn’t want to unveil them before my dear clients had mailed them out. You know, I didn’t want to ruin the surprise. This was the 4th year in a row that I did holiday cards for the Kiriakou family. They’ve all been a hit but the reaction from family and friends has been so great that we’ve felt the pressure to outdo last year’s card. And I think we did again. Better start planning for next year.
kiriakou
Now the McIntyres were new clients for me this year…and friends of the Kiriakous. Everyone loved this card as well. But now I do believe I have waged a holiday card war between these two families. We shall see what 2011 brings…but the pressure is on!

Before Bieber fever, there was The Backstreet Boys and New Kids on the Block. They’re touring together this summer and Tanna talked with Jordan Knight of NKOTB about stage fright (yes, he has it) and those screaming girls.
