Donnie Wahlberg 40th Birthday at Mohegan Sun

So what happens when a former teen idol hits the stage years later when he’s all grown up? I guess the same calamity that ensued before when he rocked the stage with 4 of his closest friends. Donnie Wahlberg showed that he still has “the right stuff” Tuesday night at his 40th birthday bash at Ultra 88 located inside the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, CT. He and his counterparts performed to an estrogen laced audience of about 500 ranging from longtime fans to new lovers of the D- Dub.

The event was sold to the general public on TicketMaster and appeared to have sold out judging by the packed venue. As soon as Donnie was officially in the building, about 500 digital cameras went up in the air to snap a coveted photo of the heartthrob.

Even the DJ couldn’t resist snapping a shot himself. It felt like one of the New Kids On The Block concerts of the early 90’s complete with security trying to keep a handle on the screaming women who probably were some of the same hormonally imbalanced teens that attended the concerts in NKOTB’s heyday.

Donnie gave a little teaser, singing along to happy birthday and sharing cake with his fans before retreating into his VIP enclave to relax and chill, while his artists took the stage to get the crowd pumping. Once Donnie took the stage, it was a symphony of screams and declarations of undying love as the birthday boy performed a few songs. In between each song he thanked the crowd for celebrating with him at one pointing stating “If this is what we party like at 40, I’ma be a bad motherf*cker at 50!” I only hope to have that much swag when I'm 40. Check a little piece of the action from that night.

By the way, The Mohegan Sun was amazing! The hotel is 33 floors high and is situated on acres upon acres of land. Plenty of shops, dining, and entertainment is at your finger tips and the staff was incredibly accomodating. Car service is available to and from the hotel and is about a 2 ½ hr train ride from NYC. Even though I'm a NYC party devotee, I wouldn’t do you justice if I discriminated against other party scenes. The ppl in CT do know how to party!
