Mark Wahlberg, star of the upcoming Will Ferrell movie The Other Guys, received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Thursday and reminisced about his days as a pop singer, rapper and Calvin Klein underwear model.
"This is a huge honor. I start my day off every day by going to church and I thank God every day for all the beautiful blessings that have been bestowed upon me," Wahlberg, 39, told a crowd.

"It's been an amazing journey, from having passed up on a huge opportunity, really, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be in a boy band and passing on that and having my brother come and visit me in a not-so-nice place and say, 'Don't worry, when you get out of here, we're going to do your own record and you'll do your own thing,'" he said.
Wahlberg was raised in Dorchester, Massachusetts and was involved in petty crime and drug dealing. When he was 16, he spent 45 days in jail after he pleaded guilty to assault after being arrested for attempted murder. Wahlberg had attacked a middle-aged Vietnamese man, used racist language against him and left him blind in one eye.
Wahlberg was once part of the hit boy band New Kids on the Block, which was most popular in the 1980s and 1990s, along with his brother Donnie. He then quit to form Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch and became a model for a Calvin Klein underwear ad campaign. Wahlberg once described his endorsement deal with the company as a "debacle."
"Believe me, I wasn't working out to hopefully become a sex symbol and an underwear model," Wahlberg said at Thursday's ceremony. "I was doing it to try and survive in a not-so-nice place, so that's why I looked that way."
Wahlberg, who played a porn star in the cult 1997 film Boogie Nights alongside Burt Reynolds and Julianne Moore, thanked his agent Ari Emanuel, who inspired the character of Ari Gold, who represents the character of up-and-coming actor Vincent Chase on Entourage, the HBO drama series produced by Wahlberg.
He received a plaque and kissed his Walk of Fame star on the ground after it was unveiled. He was then joined by his wife Rhea and children - Ella, 6, Michael, 4, Brendan, 1 and six-month-old Grace.
"It's an amazing day," he told OnTheRedCarpet.com, kissing his daughter, after she asked to ride on his shoulders.
The Other Guys, a comedy cop film opens on August 6. Check out a video of Mark Wahlberg's speech and unveiling of his star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame. Wahlberg also spoke to reporter Chris Balish.
