CBS News: Mark Wahlberg talks film, family and faith

Actor/producer Mark Wahlberg is a true Hollywood powerhouse. His secret? Borrowing heavily from his own life experiences to choose and create roles and stories that ring true with audiences. From troubled youth to rap sensation, from Calvin Klein model to actor/producer, Wahlberg's projects are always most entertaining when they focus on the intersection of three themes: family, loyalty, and crime.
Wahlberg's new movie "Contraband" (in theaters Friday, Jan. 13) is no exception, starring the actor as a former drug and money smuggler-turned-family man who gets sucked back into the business.
On "CBS This Morning," Wahlberg talked about his character in the movie and his life today, among other topics with Charlie Rose, Gayle King and Erica Hill. Wahlberg particularly discussed fatherhood and his faith.

So what does Wahlberg think about his two young children looking back at his rap career? King asked, "Are your kids aware that you are, that you were Marky Mark and when they hear that, do you think, 'Oh, God, please don't bring that up'?"
"I don't want my kids to see the video or them to listen to the music," Wahlberg said. "Oddly, my kids -- my daughter, is listening to a lot of the New Kids on the Block. Our nanny was a big fan of (ours) and slipped her a CD and a couple trading cards. She got the Christmas album. I told her, 'Christmas is over honey, you've got to put that away. But you know, there are things in my past I would not want them to know about, but it's all part of who I am."
