Country Living interview with Jon and Kristina about Farmhouse Fixer's new season

Jonathan Knight and Kristina Crestin Reveal All About About 'Farmhouse Fixer' Season 3

The design duo is back for all-new episodes on HGTV.

For Jon and Kristina, it's all about sharing their passion for preserving these special projects. "There's a lot of old houses, and they're just a part of American history. It's a shame to see a lot of them disappearing and being torn down," Jon told Country Living. "Once they're torn down, we lose that history. Old houses are built so well, they just have history, they have charm. There's nothing like an old house."

"I've heard Jon Knight say that 52,000 times, and it comes directly from your heart every time you say it," Kristina said with a laugh.

Fans on social media beg Jon and Kristina to renovate their farmhouses in far-flung locations ("I wish you could come to Odessa Texas and redo my 70-80’s ranch house!" and "I wish you would travel to Canada…"). For now, they'll stick to New England. Kristina's design business takes her across the country, but, for the logistics of a TV show, it's necessary to keep things close to home.
Facing Their Fears on Farmhouse Fixer

Season 3 of Farmhouse Fixer takes Jon and Kristina to new heights — literally. After revisiting the most likely haunted John Proctor house featured in season 2, Kristina helped Jon face his fear of heights, thanks to a lighthouse in need of a renovation. Jon revealed that he is "incredibly afraid of heights," but Kristina coerced him to make the trek to the top. "We get up to the top and there is this thin iron railing that was like rusty and everything, and yeah, I almost fainted when I was up there. It was terrifying, but for Kristina, I did it," Jon said.

The eight-episode season takes them to homes with centuries of history within their walls and bringing their fair share of challenges.
Their Time on Rock the Block

Jon and Kristina remember their time on Rock the Block season 4 with fondness. "When we did Rock the Block in Colorado, that was a really fun experience. I mean, me and Kristina had a house together," Jon said. "We wake up in the morning, have coffee, sit down at night, have dinner. So for me, that was a really great bonding experience for our relationship just to be living together and working together."

Kristina agreed and noted that, "Rock The Block was one of the hardest things I've ever done in my life, but also one of the most unique."

Kristina also had the difficult task of serving as a judge for a recent season 5 episode, an experience that brought "mixed emotions."

"It was interesting to kind of be thrown back into that situation. I was super excited to go because of seeing the people. And then when I got there, I realized I had to actually judge people I knew, and that hadn't sunk in until that particular morning," she said. "I don't know if it's a process I'd like to do again. It's the first time I've had to ever in my career deal with any negative social media backlash as well. So I do not relish that again."

Would they be up for a return to the HGTV competition series? Jon revealed that they were "in talks about doing it this year, but we were in the midst of filming our show." Kristina made it clear that "the door's always open."

Up Next: A New Spinoff

Farmhouse Fixer fans are in for more from Jonathan this summer, thanks to Farmhouse Fixer: Camp Revamp. This time, it's a family affair. The four-episode series takes the star to New Hampshire, where he's renovating a 12-acre, 10-cabin property. He's joined by his mom, dad, sisters, and brother (yes, that's his NKOTB bandmate, Jordan Knight).

"It's been a stressful, stressful year of trying to get that done. But it's amazing, and I can't wait for people to see the final product," he explains.

Step by step: The childhood home of the Knight brothers

It's not listed in any tourist guide, but NKOTB fans flock to the house where the Knight brothers grew up By Johnny Diaz Globe Staff / November 15, 2008 When Kari Lusso and her trio of girlfriends flew from Seattle to Boston for the New Kids on the Block concert, they had to make a quick detour. On a rainy Saturday night, the friends drove their rental car to 10 Melville Ave. As they stood in front of the Victorian house, they shrieked and giggled like little girls. The commotion? They were at the former home of the band's brothers Jonathan and Jordan Knight. When they rang the bell, they got a quick tour. "It was going from 31 to 13," Lusso said. "We took pictures of their stove. We took pictures of their floor. We took pictures of the banister, the living room, and their bedrooms. What a dream come true to see such an...

NKOTB's Joey McIntyre Gives Update on BSB A.J. McLean in Rehab

New Kids on the Block singer Joey McIntyre has been in the music business for over 24 years and has seen some friends battle with addiction in the limelight, including Backstreet Boy A.J. McLean who recently made the decision to enter rehab. "A.J. is a sweet kid, good kid and extremely talented, so we're all there for him," said Joey. AJ admitted himself earlier this month before heading on the huge NKOTB/BSB tour. Young star Aaron Carter is reportedly seeking professional help as well to deal with some unknown "emotional and spiritual issues," and Joey commended Aaron for making that step. "To me it's usually a good thing when someone can take some time and retreat from it all and, you know, just get a little bit more centered," Joey said, encouragingly. Justin Bieber has managed to stay clean in his career thus far and Joey gave some advice to the star for staying on the right track. "Hopefully, kids like Justin… there...
